I just got done testing the New Hartz UltraGuard Plus Flea Collar that I received for free in exchange for my honest opinion. The First thing I want to mention is once I put the collar on her she started scratching. But, after watching her behavior for a while I realized that it was the collar itself. After filing down the corners of the buckle and rounding out the end of the collar itself she finally stopped scratching. So you may have to do this to make your feline more comfortable. To do this I took a normal fingernail file and just rubbed it over the four corners until they were rounded off and smooth. You might have to take a pair of scissors and round out the end of the collar itself, then take the fingernail file to that as well rounding it off and making it nice and smooth. I also loved the smell of the collar, it is a light scent that makes my kitty smell really good. I also would like to point out the differences between the Ultra Guard and the Ultra Guard Plus. Both are water resistant, for cats as well as kittens and have 7 month protection. The regular Ultra Guard Kills Fleas and Ticks and The ultra Guard Kills and Repels Fleas Ticks Flea Eggs and Flea Larvae and also prevents eggs from hatching. You may ask yourself are flea eggs and flea larvae the same thing? Well the answer is no. After the egg hatches it then becomes a larvae before eventually "morphing" into a flea. I encourage everyone, who is dealing with fleas to investigate what you are dealing with by looking up the flea life cycle. Which can be found at Orkin.com under Flea life cycle. Terminex.com also has the same information on their website as well. Some other differences would be the color of the collar and the scent. The regular collar is purple the plus is white, but both have a break a way button on them, that keep your kitty from getting stuck on things, like my cat who got hers stuck on one of the branches of my indoor fig tree. I still have no idea how, but I found the collar hanging from one of it's lower branches. Both collars also come with a reflective property that reflects light so it is easy to spot your pet if it gets out at night. The other difference is of course the price. The UltraGuard Plus runs about five dollars more than the regular, but both can be found for under 10.00 A great buy if you ask me!
