UltraGuard ProMAX Dog Collar - Black
I really wanted to LOVE…

I received the Hartz UltraGuard ProMax Flea and Tick Collar for free for my little 'bug' (baby pug), Otis, in exchange for my opinion. I was super excited to be chosen to try it out on him. When it arrived, I was surprised that there were two collars in the tin with each saying they last 6 months each!! We live in SW Florida and even though our pup is an inside dog, we do take him on walks and he inevitably brings home 'visitors' that drive him (and me) crazy. I loved the softness of the collar and the fact that it didn't have an odor to it. Since Otis is still growing, I didn't cut the collar so I used a clip to attach the excess to the collar so it wouldn't flop around. The collar has a secure double buckle and I doubt it would ever come off without help. He wiggles out of his harness, but this is one collar he doesn't even seem to notice that he has on. He has had no reaction to it. It is waterproof - which is good so I don't have to keep removing it when he goes in the rain, pool or shower. I really wanted to love this collar. I waited to review it to see how it performed. The first collar was put on immediately after receiving them. To be honest, it didn't seem to do anything. :( After about a month I decided to try the second collar. It actually seems to be doing better, but not much. We are now entering the rainy season which means mosquitoes!!! yikes! now this is a positive I am happy about. Mosquitoes usually follow dogs inside, and of course we have to take Otis outside to do his business. With this collar I have not noticed mosquitoes following him inside. That is a plus that I am very happy about. However, the reason I wanted to try it was for the fleas... hmmm... maybe he would have more if he didn't have this collar on. Maybe I am expecting too much (to be flea-free?). There are many pluses to the Hartz UltraGuard ProMax Flea and Tick collar, but it seems that Otis needs more flea protection than what this gives. Update: as flea season advances, i have noticed that Otis isn't scratching as much and when i bathe him there are very few (1-2) fleas that come off. i am thankful that i was chosen to try this!
